Critical Reminders for 2025
Several important changes affect how you'll file your 2025 return. Here's what you need to know.
Direct Deposit Required
Make sure you have your bank routing number and account number ready when you submit your documents. If you're unsure where to find this information, check the bottom of a personal check or contact your bank directly.
State Tax Differences: Illinois & Indiana
Even though federal law changed regarding tip income under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Illinois has not adopted this change. Indiana follows the Internal Revenue Code as of January 1, 2023, meaning it also has not adopted the OBBBA provisions.
| Issue | Illinois | Indiana |
|---|---|---|
| Federal Tip Exemption | Does NOT Apply | Does NOT Apply |
| OBBBA Adoption | Partial | Not Adopted |
| IRC Reference Date | Current Year | January 1, 2023 |
